A bit more on Maps

  • Google Earth Lite
  • Points with multimedia
  • Layers with additional data
    • KML files

Adding KML files.
Usually need to have more advanced knowledge to create KML files but you can use premade filesets.
Download the file and drag it onto a layer of your Google map.

For most K-12 curriculum lessons Google maps is fine for teaching MB curriculum. For more advanced work with maps you will need a proprietary program like ESRI ArcGIS that typically costs money and is more complex to use. If you get confident with Google maps you should be able to challenge many other applications and programs.

Lots of other things you can do with maps. Try out a few of these FreeMapTools
