Theories, Models and Pedagogy of the Manitoba Curriculum

Lesson Planning

All teachers differentiate instruction to some extent. It is in the nature of teaching to pay attention to the responses of individual students and to adapt instruction and classroom organization to ensure their success.

 Universal design.
UD is defined as the process of creating systems, environments, materials and devices that are directly and repeatedly usable by people with the widest range of abilities operating within the largest variety of situations.
Assistive Technology

Assistive Technology (AT) can enhance the quality of life for a student with learning challenges. AT can be a range of strategies and resources which include services and tools used to enable a student to meet learning outcomes. AT has the capacity to increase a student’s control in learning environments, daily activities and social situations.

AT also includes devices or software specifically for students with severe visual impairments (including electronic magnification devices, braille displays, notetakers and embossers and translation software for braille.

Activity 3: Using a concept map. (Mindmeister. ) for lesson planning and delivery.

First Class

On this site you will find

  • a daily agenda
  • course lecture recordings,
  • course resources
  • course activities .

The main objective of this course is provide an opportunity for preservice teachers to examine and explore various Information and Communications technologies.

It is impossible to teach every possible ICT tool or practice, instead participants will be taught how to teach themselves and each will be encouraged to develop a sense of confidence and competence with web based tools and online environments.

Each class will be presented in a live Zoom videoconference . A recording will be available after the class is complete. Brandon University PENT expects every participant to attend every lecture. Attendance will be recorded, you must have your camera on with your face visible. Only the active speaker (usually the instructor ) will appear in the recording.

Class recordings are for review and reflection and should not replace live attendance and active participation. Failure to attend or complete activities in a timely way could lead to suspension and loss of sponsorship.

When learning in an virtual environment best practice is to have a second monitor, one to watch the class presentation to follow instruction and a second screen to attempt and complete activities.

A recording of the class will be posted here after the class. Allow about an hour for the recording to be processed and posted. The recordings will be automatically erased each week but you can download the recording to your computer.
